After Hillary’s speech tonight, I happened upon a Fox News report of a demonstration staged in Denver by “18 Million Voices”. This is the group of Hillary supporters embittered by the fact she’s not the party’s nominee. The headline was something like “A thousand Hillary supporters protest Obama’s nomination.”
An overhead shot of this gathering looked to be no more than two or three hundred. Only a desperate news director would run such a story. A thousand kids protesting a high school’s removal of a coke machine would be far more newsworthy.
Republican dreams of a “Recreate ’68″ Democratic convention are not to be. Hillary made the speech she had to make — brilliantly crafted, generous, and unifying. I was very pleasantly surprised.
I’m going to win my five bucks come November.
