NewsMax and Quacks.

June 12th, 2007

Somehow I got on the NewsMax email list. I usually delete their emails with barely a blink, but today the headline was “33 million Americans to go blind this year.” What followed was a sales letter for something called “The Blaylock Wellness Report.”

The body of the letter spelled out numerous causes of blindness. Chief among them was macular degeneration. I skimmed what must have been 2,000 words of copy for any real information, any believable studies, anything that would back up the claim that 11% of the U.S. population would go blind this year alone. Nothing.

I googled “The Blaylock Wellness Report.” Amid a sea of praise for the amazing Dr. Russell Blaylock was Google ranking #3: “Nonrecommended Periodicals”. I clicked through to a site called Quackwatch.

Quackwatch, other than listing a ton of New Age journals, is not a site rich in information. I was disappointed. I wanted the goods on this Blaylock charlatan.

Finally, at google rank #40, I hit paydirt. The Wikipedia report on NewsMax and it’s fully-owned Blaylock Wellness Report. Why was I surprised? It’s just another garden-variety right-wing enterprise. All the grubby usuals are involved — Alexander Haig, Michael Reagan, Richard Mellon Scaife, Rush and David Limbaugh, the late CIA Director, William Casey.

And yet so much praise for this ludicrous health enterprise comes from New Age types — many, if not most of them, lefties who buy into alternative medicine in a big way. Conservative billionaires don’t get rich doing favors for liberals.

Now that I know who’s behind the Blaylock Wellness Report, I’ve got to go back and read their causes of blindness list more carefully. Masturbation has to be on it.

    Dear Bullseye Rooster,

I have been solicited to subscribe to the Baylock Wellness Report and had almost considered doing so. As I usually do under these circumstances I Googled, and lo, I found your comments . I do not intend to subscribe and will henceforth ban Newswatch from my computer,

    Thanks, Ann McGarity

I FOUND THE BLAYLOCK REPORT QUITE INTERESTING.
I AM A DOCTOR AND HAVE A CLUE ABOUT SOME OF THE RESEARCH INVOLVED. IT TENDS TO BE OVER THE TOP A LITTLE, BUT SOME OPF IT MAKES SENSE, THOUGH A LITTLE EXTREAM HERE AND THERE. THE BIGEST PROBLEM IS, I LIVE IN SCOTLAND AND PAID FOR TWO YEARS OF THE REPORT ALONG WITH A FREE BLOOD PRESSURE GIZMO AND A PEDOMETER THAT WERE THROWN IN, FOR DOING SO.
I HAVE NOT RECEIVED EITHER AND I AS YET HAVE NOT HAD THE REPORT SENT, (ON LINE). I HAVE SENT LOTS OF E MAILS AND THEY HAVE NOT ANSWERED ANY.
IT WASN’T A PROBLEM LAST YEAR, THEY EVEN SENT STUFF I DIDN’T WANT THEM TO BY POST. I EVEN GAVE THEM AN ADDRESS IN FLORIDA TO SEND THE FREE GIFTS TO, IF THEY COULDNT BE BOTHERED TO PUT THE EXTRA POSTAGE ON, WHICH I HAD OFFERED TO PAY FOR. SO BE CAREFULL IF YOU ARE THINKING ABOUT SENDING FOR THIS REPORT.

  3. colkcs Says:

Well, I noticed that you promote the Huffington Post under your blog roll, so I shouldn’t be surprised at your narrow minded attitude toward some sound medical opinion.

When you get right down to it, Doctors give “OPINIONS” on just about everything. They really don’t know they are right…only that previous evidence of similar actions seem to say that their next opinion will be correct. They give you a prescription based on the opinion of other doctors that that particular medicine will help cure what ails you.

However, any new evidence or opinion which may not seem “mainstream” is considered “ludicrous”, to use your words, and you therefore toss it aside without further investigation. Rather narrow minded don’t you think?

To help you make your “opinionated” decision is your belief that anything which has to do with anyone on the political left is evil, wrong, and will eventually probably prove to be fattening. What an enlightened bunch of ‘useful idiots’ you all are.

Poor Ann McGarity. She will never be able to look at a different viewpoint in her entire life simply because she googled you and made her decision on your OPINION! Poor thing will never be able to get along on her own in life.

I truly do feel sorry for your ilk. Unfortunately, you are probably to young to realize what sort of errors you are making in your life.

Remember: A conservative is nothing more than a liberal who has been mugged. Look at how the liberals have recently mugged one of their own. I would expect Geraldine Ferraro to someday realize she has been devoured by her ‘friends’, and turn to others who may appreciate her viewpoints more. They may well turn out to be conservatives. Wouldn’t surprise me.

  4. Chad Says:

I have been getting these solicitations as well, we have all heard alternative medicines, I tried out many for high cholesterol from the health food store, I am not seeing any improvement. I even purchased this expensive cinnanmon pill offline and saw no improvement, guess I will die someday, but the other alternative is that I would die someday but maybe a little later.

  5. Chad Says:

So far it seems Dr Blaylock goes a little bit beyond the normal, this is my opinion, it seems at least for now that he is looking at actual research that seems pretty conclusive but is generally hidden from the publics view. I haven’t broken down to purchase the report yet but I think if you can use his information to make a few minor changes in how you live would be beneficial. Don’t take a strong right wing stance and come off as a nut or have the attitude to NOT DO something at all costs like my dad does, he comes off a bit nutty. I stopped drinking tap water after hearing about the dangers of Fluoride and Cholrine and other stuff in it. For 33 cents a week I buy gallons of pure water, this small change may or may not have serious benefits in my health, but it can’t hurt can it? His research got me to spend the 33 cents a week on water. Use his research in this way, don’t live and die by what he or anyone says, don’t overdo anything to much and you will be happier, healthier, and more free.

Hay fwickham, your left side is showing, look anyone who can’t find something bad (say on Dr Blaylock) and the only thing on the whole net comes from “Wikipedia” the site where “anyone can add anything to anything” is at best very weak !!! and should have been a little clue, in the first place !!!

Do you people (I love that term : ) ever think you could be wrong ?? did you ever think you can be doing harm to someone looking for medical information that could save someone life ? do you, ever think ?

The one truth you and people like you can’t handle is the truth, Doctor Blaylock is a board-certified neurosurgeon, and it doesn’t take too much common sense to recognizes, he or his site doesn’t sell any cure-alls !!!!! only the newsletter !

Please spare me your long line of bs !!!!!!!!

ps: if you want to play on this subject, send me an e-mail !!!

    jcwave

  7. Hannah Says:

I like the subject of your blog, job well done, thanks.

  8. James Says:

Hm, how interesting that you judge the efficacy of alternative medical treatment by political alignment. And Wikipedia? I think everyone should take Wikipedia info with a grain of salt. I surely wouldn’t use it as a sole source for judgment of anyone or anything.

  9. Diane Wilson Says:

fwickham…I admonish you that if you keep writing as you do, you will NEVER “atone” (as you claim is your goal) for those 35 years of writing advertising (although I doubt your goal is that inocuous)….for just as scorpions must sting and skunks spray, it seems that people like you MUST vent and spew their venom…. although I admit I haven’t read anything else on your site so perhaps your rant against Dr. Blaylock was the worst of it. However, that’s the problem with websites such as yours,–read one post and unless one revels in hatefests, one loses one’s appetite for more. I refer in particular to your last sentence (which was reprehensible and, of course, hateful).

For others who have the misfortune to stumble upon your website, I will defend Dr. Blaylock by saying that I am a long-time subscriber to his report and know him to be a decent, sincere man of good reputation. He is a board-certified surgeon of many decades who gives alternative medical advice to people abandoned by doctors who have long treated their patients’ symptoms with drug after drug, not having the time nor the inclination to look to cause of disease as found in the body’s natural response to the corrective and healing nutrients found in nature.

I agree with “jcwave” above,…that is, do people like you EVER THINK?…engage in HONEST investigation?…or better yet, do you ever give simple, THOUGHTFUL consideration to the impact of your ill-considered ravings?
The answer? No, no and no.

I pray for you to do better.

  10. Stunned Says:

Folks, I am actually stunned to read this blog. You should at least give this a benefit of the doubt and not draw conclusions from Wikipedia or anyone else for that matter.

Today I received a salesletter email from NewsMax.com advertising this report and I subscribed to it. In a single heart desease releated 20-page report I found more information and cause for me to readjust my way of eating and exercising then the past 10 years of visiting my doctor for checkups and advise (and I do have an excellent and a well respected doctor.) The Q&A section at the end of the report was also very usefull.

My physical is coming up next month so I will take Dr. Blaylock’s report to my doctor and have him run tests as suggested so I can get more involved in my own health evaluation then just leaving it up to my primary care physician.

  11. Stunned 2 Says:

    fwickham,

How interesting that you went on your search intent on finding “the goods on this Blaylock charlatan”. I went looking for information that would show me if he was indeed informed and qualified on the topic of health after I received his Health Alert. I did google his online publication. However, I also searched info on his name and medical qualifications. Why would one deliberately set out to ‘dig dirt’ as opposed to finding the truth about health statements? Doesn’t make sense to me unless that party has an agenda for whatever reason. Do you? I don’t, other than searching to improve my health, armed with first-hand knowledge from various sources, not just what one doctor in one clinic tells me.

It appears that Dr. Blaylock is as well qualified in trying to inform the public of health and nutritional issues that he finds alarming, as he is as a board-certified neurosurgeon. I found that he has many books and publications to his credit, that are being purchased from bookstores and online. I cannot fault him for charging a small sum for his continued efforts at research and publication of said results. Even doctors, especially nowadays, need to have an income to pay the bills.

As an independent person, I look for advice from both my liberal and conservative friends when navigating through life. I would never consider their health advice to be slanted against me because of their political alignment. I am sure there are other well-qualified nutritional doctors whose information is hosted by publications supported by liberal organizations, and more power to them. We need all the help we can get sorting through the garbage that goes into our food. However, I would not call those more liberal publications who host columns from valid, nutritionally educated doctors “ludicrous health enterprises” unless extensive research proved them to be. I don’t feel Wikipedia is extensive research.

Stumbling accidentally across your blog is an eye-opener! You could have had yourself an interesting and helpful blog here had you actually done proper research from an unbiased position. Unfortunately, it seems that you still have your ‘advertising mentality’ instead of well thought out and investigative research results. I’m sorry to see, along with Stunned, that some readers think a few comments on a personal blog qualify as a decision-making source for them. That is even sadder than the irresponsible, under-researched opinion of yours stated above.

I have not signed up for Dr. Blaylock’s newsletter, and I have no idea at this time if I will or won’t. I will continue to do valuable research on my own about the health topics he addressed, and I may even check out one of his books along with others that I find well-informed on food related health issues. We all should be doing that for our long-term health, instead of blindly following non-nutritionally educated doctors’ drug prescription solutions or ‘quick result expensive cure-all pill purchases’. And I will certainly ‘not’ search by means of political associations, but because of education and knowledge of the authors, irrespective of politics. You might try that.

  12. Annette Kay Says:

Well, I am glad I didn’t do my usual “Google” before I bought the Blaylock report. Yes, it is a little over the top. But I read other things along with it to confirm the advice of Blaylock. After two months, and being told I had atrial fibrillation, borderline diabetes and umpteen allergies, I now have found that all it took to rectify my problem was taking L-carnitine and chromium to be able to utilize my insulin. I am no longer considered prediabetic, my heart is fine (no warfarin necessary), and my allergies are disappearing one by one. Gosh, glad I’m not that rather vulgar, arrogant liberal who rejected Blaylock without reading his research. I’ve learned a lot about nutrition, body chemistry, supplements, which I wished I’d learned sooner. We conservatives have larger families and perhaps may live longer because of Blaylock. Democrats will just have to support the teachers’ unions in misteaching the younger generation.

  13. Zeromo Says:

Wow,I too, have been receiving come ons for the Blaylock Report. And I am a very, very hard sell for anything of this sort but I’ve been intrigued for as long as I’ve received the come ons.

It’s patently obvious that fwickham has absolutely no sense of objective reporting once he found out that conservatives were somehow involved and therefore everything connected to the Blaylock Report must be totally evil. Oh, Annette failed to mention, according to a number of surveys, that conservatives are generally much more satisfied/happy with life in general. Other than that, Annette sums everything up very nicely!

  14. Mike Says:

I see here a smart and engaging bunch. I don’t belong here… but let me tell you in plain language, before I go,my wife has been a diabetic with out-of-control blood sugar for many years. Her Kaiser doctors were frustrated. I subscribed to the Blaylock Wellness Report on NEWSMAX.COM and found there the suggestion to try L-Lipoic Acid in doses of 100 mg. She has been taking one such capsul per day and her blood sugar readings have fallen from the 200-300 and more, to ranges of 65 to 150. Let’s stop being stooges of the drug cartels and explore just a little further into what’s out there that might make us healthy.

  15. Stunned also Says:

Who knew that health information would come down to a political decision.

I decided to read the comments because I couldn’t believe anyone would dismiss the Blaylock Report on the basis of a Wikipedia entry. I go to Wikipedia as much as anyone else but bring along a grain of salt. The one thing I’ve learned in my old age about health is that if you don’t look after yourself no one is looking out for you at all. While I have the greatest respect for my primary care physician, who happens to be a D.O., which gives him a slightly different outlook in treatment than an MD, he, too, is human, and can’t possibly know everything. Between Dr. Blaylock and Wikipedia, I’ll take Dr. Blaylock.

  16. Mike Says:

I second that comment, “Stunned”. Let me correct my comment of July 27….. it is R-Lipoic Acid, 100 mg capsules. This one supplement has been the only thing to bring my wife’s blood sugar reading back in to normal range. She still must take insulin, but that alone doesn’t do the trick.

Good luck with all your health matters.

  17. madame curie Says:

Take that and that, you liberal jackass fwickham. Hell I for one would be happy to see one less of you imbeciles in the world.

  18. Fguzo Says:

Warning: I didn’t use spell check and need it badlie (jk). I never do this and spell poorly. Please, get over it, read on, and make it a good one;)

The Blaylock report is likely THE most useful medical information backed by science and research from around the world. Mercola.com, an even more well know Dr. on the “cutting edge” of medical truth references Blaylock studies and reports all the time.

And in my 10+ years or reading him, I can’t tell if Dr. Mercola has and political affiliation, preference or promotion. Neither does Blaylock for that matter, other than that of Newsmax distribution obviously due to Newsmax’s older-aged demographic.

Furthermore, Blaylock doen’t try to sell you any products. Come Mr. marketing guru of this blog, couldn’t that be a positive thing? Not to mention the fact politics are NEVER mentioned in is newsletters other than the fact that DRUG COMPANIES WORK FOR THE SHAREHOLDERS, IE. MAKING MONEY 1ST, AND THE PEOPLE 2ND. AND IF THEY HAPPEN TO HELP PEOPLE ALONG THE WAY, MORE PROFIT FOR THEM!

LIBERALS,CONSERVATIVES,INDEPENDANTS, IT DOESN’T MATTER. BIG PHARMA IS ONE OF, IF NOT THE BIGGEST, BOLDEST AMERICAN SCAM IN HISTORY (BIG OIL IS UP THERE TOO OF COURSE–CAN YOU SAY SUBSIDIES). THE FACTS ARE OUT THERE, YOU DON’T EVEN HAVE TO DIG.

    LOOK, BIG PHARMA:
    1) FORMER EXECS HAVE BEEN HEADS OF FDA SINCE THE FDA’S INCEPTION
    2) BIG PHARMA HAS LINED THE POCKETS OF CONGRESSMEN AND SENATORS SINCE INCEPTION OF FDA

    3) MY FAVORITE!! BIG PHARMA RUNS THE “INDEPENDANT” OVERSIGHT OF THE FDA! THEY OWN THE “3RD PARTY/INDERPENDANT” TESTING COMPANIES AND LABS, WRITE THE RULES, GET BILLS PASSED ETC.!!

THE REAL, REAL, REAL, AND ONLY THING TO HELP STOP THIS, AND THINGS LIKE ENRON, AND THE CURRENT BANKING COLLAPSE AMONG OTHER THINGS IS TO ENACT TERM LIMITS!!! TERM LIMITS ARE THE ONLY THING THAT CAN HELP STOP WASHINGTONS RAPING OF IT’S CITIZENS!!

PLEASE, TAKE THIS TO HEART, AND SPREAD THE WORD! BOTH PARTIES ARE GUILTY OF GREED AND THE ONLY START TO A SOLUTION IS HAVING TERM LIMITS!!

YOU BARELY EVER HERE YOUR LEADERS SPEAK OF THIS, AND IF YOU DO, IT’S SOON SWEPT UNDER THE RUG AFTER BEING ELECTED.

TERM LIMITS ARE A BEGGINING TO THE MADNESS RUINING OUR COUNTRY. THE BACK ROOM DEALS AND SECRET OVERSEAS BANK ACCOUNTS ONLY GROW WITH TIME ON THE HILL. AND YOU THINK THEY WILL STOP IT? NOT A CHANCE….

WE ARE ALL AMERICANS. STOP BEING LED LIKE SHEPP. STOP THIKING ONE PARTY IS ALWAYS RIGHT OR ALWAYS WRONG AND REALIZE BOTH ARE BOTH AND TO THINK FOR YOURSELF.

  19. in-credible Says:

I heard Dr. Blaylock speak at the Weston A. Price Conference in 2004 about MSG. I do not give my opinion unless I have done extensive cross-reference research, which I have done on both, Dr. Blaylock and the topic of MSG being an excitotoxin found in foods and items that we ingest via mouth, skin and IV drug therapy. Since I have shared this (Dr. Blaylock’s) information with intelligent open minded friends and family members that know optimum health can better be obtained outside the “prescription box” and by reducing their intake of MSG they have made remarkable improvements in their health.

Dare I say, fwickham, maybe you should look into the vicarious use of MSG because after reading your blog it lends me to believe that your mental health is being adversely affected by more than an osmotic injection of at least one harmful substance. As for the political connection, please fwickham, I’d say get a grip, but your prose tells me you already do so, on a regular basis.

  20. Bill D Says:

Fwickham has an interesting point of view. His/her way of expressing it draws interest in this blog and generates further inquiry and comments. We should be glad for that.

The comments here are interesting too — and useful. Although I’m not a subscriber to Blaylock’s report, I am interested in my health. (I have hypertension.) You people probably saved me some rummaging on Google and other places. Thanks for your inputs; I read them all.

I leave this additional comment. There is nothing good in insulting one another, or the blog owner. Ill will could itself be considered a debilitating disease that makes our lives less healthy and happy. Life’s too short to be worked up about fwickham’s politics or anyone else’s. For me, I want to earn another 10 years of good health. I hope you do too.

  21. Alexander Barnett Says:

As a layman I have studied all aspects of nutrition, in depth, over the past 46 years and I can say unequivocally that the Dr Blaylock newsletter is probably the best one published.I started subscribing a year ago and I have always found his articles to be illuminating and extremely intelligent. He never gets involved in politics except to expose the ignorance and crookedness of the F.D.A. and the major drug companies which is more than justified.

  22. Mike Prokop Says:

To all who precede this. I find it hard to believe that when it comes to one’s personal well-being that some of you brought politics into the fray!

I have yet to ever see or hear in my 53 yrs ANYONE question a doctor’s political affiliations prior to their examination. Why start now?

You know one has to wonder WHY this Dr has put his name on this stuff.I mean he was a neuro surgeon for 26 years and they don’t earn chicken feed.He would be rather wealthy already and would not need financially to promote this.Unless he had all his money in something that crashed during the last years market crashes and needs to make more money as he is retired.
Which happened to my uncle who was rather wealthy and retired, and now has to return to work at 61 because he lost much of it in the last years of market crashes. He is a real Dr real Scientist yet affiliates himself with cheesy overpriced supplement websites and new age newsletters.Im not understanding it myself.
Maybe he believes it and actually cares.
Or perhaps hes just greedy and wants money.
    Who knows.

  25. Dr. Livewell Says:

The Wikipedia article in question includes a well researched series of quotes that list retractions made by Newsmax and those who foolishly quoted Newsmax as fact. It seems true enough that Newsmax.com is an Opinion Paper heavily slanted to the right wing. For example:

“Newsmax claimed that Barack Obama’s Vatican ambassador had been rejected several times for being “insufficiently pro-life.” The Catholic News Service and Time magazine confirmed on April 9, 2009 that Newsmax’s story was false.[18]”

Whether this taints the validity of Dr. Blaylock’s newsletter is not clear. However; he no doubt directs business to advertisers in Newsmax. As with any decision I make regarding health supplements I verify any claims via independent sources. Preferably original articles in Peer Reviewed Medical Journals.

  26. Libertarian Gurrlllll Says:

  28. KWG Says:

Dr. Blaylock is a well respected and excellent neurosurgeon. He knows his information and those of you who read his books and study his peer reviewed studies will understand just how excellent a doctor he is.
Who cares who is behind publishing his newsletter? Really…the news media is bought and sold today and only tells you what they want you to know. At least his information is out there for people to read and make their own conclusions. Grow up.

  29. CNY Guy Says:

I try not to judge information by the politics of the researcher. At least Dr. Blaylock does not put Right-wing propaganda in the middle of his health report the way some of the other “NewsMax Doctors” do. I learn what I can from his articles and if it is verified by other independent Peer Reviewed research I sometimes act on it. I buy supplements from a local store rather than supporting NewsMax advertisers.

Dr. Blaylock does give at least some sound advice by stating the best medicine is unprocessed food and an active lifestyle.

Sadly even my father, an 88 y/o independent thinker, is sometimes taken in by the news max style Charlatans who mix health advice with Political misinformation. This is one of the Right wing sources that has wrongly insisted that President Obama wants to kill off the elderly.

When you hear outrageous claims like this do some independent Fact Checking of your own. Please! Votesmart.Org, factcheck.org and others have refuted most of the claims made by newsmax.

I am a physician. Blaylock is charismatic and intelligent but not sticking to the scientific method. We as physicians are incredibly critical of pharmacy companies. We are by nature skeptics. We are taught to be critical thinkers. Teaching healthy habits is good. Teaching that vaccines are “bad” is not scientific. We as pediatricians are the first to howl about bad vaccines(for example-the first rotovirus vaccine). A charismatic man with a bad message means I may take care of more critically ill kids-which is never fun and sometimes tragic. I have administered over 15K vaccines and never seen a life threatening reaction or a case of autism from vaccines. I have seen kids die from HIB meningitis and seen them cripled- this is vaccine preventable.

There is no fear mongering here-just an honest opinion to be careful about what this man says.

  32. dangergrrl Says:

I found this blog because some of the claims made in the most recent promotion for blaylock’s report seemed dubious especially that vaccines are actually dangerous. I’m really wanting to know from someone who already paid him for the report whether he cites copious references from peer-reviewed scientific literature.

It is interesting that his funding comes from Rush Limbaugh and friends, but not entirely relevant as to whether his reports are well researched with documented citations to journals. I find it interesting because my ultra conservative ex brother-in-law “warned” my sister not to take the new flu shots because they were a liberal government plot to exterminate large numbers of people and would actually cause swine flu. Then I got this blaylock ad and what he’s saying sounds less psychotic but similar. If he cited even a single reference in his promo material, I would take it more seriously.

I don’t know if he is fake or publishes underresearched work in his paid content. I live on social security disability so am trying to find out information before giving up my money but, honestly, I tend to vote with my wallet. hence i would have to find overwhelming support for him before i would support a company controlled by those i strongly disagree with.

I don’t care about politics, I care about rational thought. Have Blaylock’s claims been substantiated by empirical studies published in peer-reviewed medical journals? If not, there’s room for skepticism, for this man seems to see a medical devil behind every rock.

  52. Brenda Tucker Says:

I have heard Dr. blaylock speak a number of times at medical conferences. He is one of the world’s most renownd neuro surgeons. He has dedicated his life to the benefit of others in an honorable and scientific way. He is humble and calm and extremely well researched. It’s a shame that you spend your valuable energy discrediting such a profoundly dedicated and recongnized Doctor. If you really did your homework you would know that Wikipedia is under fire for deleting substantial information regarding holisitc research and is funded by the pharmaceutical industry.Shame on you and your limited mind.

  53. Stan Says:

Dr. Blaylock may be what he claims to be, but he has an annoying habit of advertising his service with scare headlines about deadly diseases and dying. He begins with a headline, such as, “5 Inexpensive Everyday Ingredients That Protect You From Dementia.” Then, Dr. Blaylock does not list the 5 items in his headline. You have to sign up for his newsletter to find out what he’s referring to. After that, he launches into his qualifications that allow him to make such claims. I’ve stopped falling for the bait. I know that I won’t learn anything by reading the rest of his article. I wish Dr. Blaylock well, but hope he will be more forthright in the future.

If you sign up for the free radio you end up being on their subscription list even though you cancel it. Then they wait a year or two and bill your credit card for a year long magazine subscription. (This has happened to me three times in four years.) Using my bank’s fraud services, the Newsmax rep told my banker and me that she had a current request for a subscription from me in her hand. So I would add Liar as well as Thief to any description of this company.

Dr. Salk gave us the cure to polio without a red cent asked for. I tend to think most doctors make pretty good money and would ask this right wing charged doctor to seek out some help in coming to terms with his profit motive for things that are clearly a benefit to Americans. It is unAmerican to profit off the health of Americans.

Can’t find a contact email address for Blaylock’s Wellness Letter anywhere. I wonder why? It comes to me out of the blue always. This is my response to the doctor:

If you are interested in helping people fight these diseases, why don’t you just tell us the name of the supplements, etc., in an article like this? You could have told us all we needed to know in that space. The fact that profit (selling the book) is your number one priority makes me suspicious of your information. If you have legitimate knowledge that is verifiable, it should be in the medical journals, not in advertising hype.

  66. Bet Taylor Says:

“OH MY GOODNESS!!”…LITTLE SHIRLEY TEMPLE USE TO SAY. I CAN SAY THAT TOO GIVING HER CREDIT. LET ME SAY THIS; OH MY GOODNESS PEOPLE, THIS WILL BLOW EVERYONE’S SOCKS OFF INCLUDING MR.WICKHAM’S. BEFORE YOU CROW TOO MUCH WHY NOT FIND REAL TESTAMONIES FROM READERS / USERS OF FROM & ABOUT THE BLAYLOCK REPORTS???!!!
HEADS UP….LOOOOOOK IF YOU WILL INTO THE REPORTS OF CENTENARIANS FOR A MATTER OF FACT, SUPER-CENTENARIANS WHO HAS RECEIVED BIG TIME HELP FROM HIM. THERE ARE SUPER-CENTENARIANS ALL OVER THE U.S. AND THE WORLD. I KNEW PERSONALLY A LADY 112 YEARS OF AG AND LET ME SAY SHE DID THE Q&A OF THE REPORTS AND HER LITTLE MIND WAS AS SHARP AS A TACK HOWEVER SOMETIMES REPEATING HERSELF OR STORIES SHE LIKED TO TALK ABOUT INCLUDING ABOUT u.s. PRESIDENTS OF HER TIMES AND ABOUT THE TITANIC SINKING LIKE IT WAS YESTERDAY. UP TO THE DAILY BLOG OF HER OWN ACCOUNT COULD ACCOUNT FOR HER LONGEVITY, THE WELLNESS REPORT, YES AND EVEN BEING A VEGETARIAN. SHE WALKED AS GOOD AS YOU OR I, SHE SAT DOWN AND RAISED HERSELF UP, SHE WENT TO THE BATHROOM AS WELL AS YOU OR I WITHOUT ASSISTANCE. SHE DID NOT NEED A NURSING HOME, NO OXYGEN TUBES, NO IV’S, NO PHARMA…BUT ONLY DR. BLAYLOCK’S GREAT ADVICE AND VITAMINS AND THE BLAYLOCK Q & A FOR REPORTS TO HER PERSONAL GOOD HEALTH. SHE WAS NOT A DIABETIC, NO HIGH BLOOD PRESSURE, AND THIS GAVE HER A GREAT OUTLOOK ON LIFE. YOU MAY FIND HER OBITUARY AT THE KNOXVILLE NEWS ONLINE. SHE IS ‘JAMES’ REETA ‘MA’ JONES. JAMES FOR THE SON HER PARENTS DIDN’T HAVE OUT OF 6 CHILDREN. FINALLY AFTER SHE WAS BORN, HER PARENTS FINALLY DID HAVE A SON, BUT SHE WAS GIVEN THE NAME JAMES, (THAT WAS OCTOBER 18TH 1898).
WOULD YOU ALSO DOUBT, YOU SKEPTICS ABOUT THE BLAYLOCK REPORT, THE REASON FOR LONGEVITY OF A FEMALE GEORGIA PEDIATRICIAN WHO ALSO WAS A SUPER-CENTERIAN???!!! SHE QUIT HER PRACTICE OF MEDICINE PAST THE AGE OF 100, WROTE A NUTRITIONAL BOOK AFTERWARDS AND CONTINUED LIVING AS FAR AS I WOULD EXPECT TILL THIS TIME AND DATE!
OH MY MY GOODNESS, YOU DOUBTERS OF WHAT’S OUT THERE THAT IS REALLY GOOD FOR US.
PONDER, THINK, AND BE THANKFUL FOR ONE AS DR. BLAYLOCK!!!
    SMILES, BJT

  67. Bet Taylor Says:

ANGELGROOVE…OH MY GOODNESS – CONSIDER THIS. LISTEN, DIDN’T THE GOV’T TAKE CONTROL OF THE FINDINGS OF THE VACCINE FOR POLIO? SAME WITH PENICILLIN…GOV’T CONTOL PEOPLE…THAT’S IT! VERY SIMPLE TO UNDERSTAND WHY DR. BLAYLOCK DOES NOT FEED INFO OUT. IT COMES IN TO THOSE WHO DESIRE TO KNOW MORE. LOOKS LIKE THE GOV’T CAN’T TOUCH THIS, LOL. I WOULD ENCOURAGE ALL TO READ MY OTHER POST. THNX ALLOT! HAVE A NICE BUT HEALTHY DAY Y’ALL!
    SMILES, BJT.

  68. David Says:

I have followed nutritional therapies since 1970s and know of the persecution by FDA agents shutting down “alternative therapies”. I also have a knack for spotting “fake info” e-mails – lack of verifiable info/sources and “over-the top” (outrageous) statements. (Surely he didn’t say 33 million would go blind!!)

I suspect Doc Blaylock probably publishes good info. But his “delivery” isn’t a confidence builder.

Not being a mind reader, I am left to do my own “independent” research, maybe guided by his newsletter as a starting point in some cases.

  69. PJparker Says:

fwickham, I think you’re right about Blaylock. I’ve been in the medical profession for 40 years, and have encountered many inflated curiculum vitaes.

Look closely at his credentials. “Presently, he is a visiting professor in the department of biological sciences at Belhaven College in Jackson, Mississippi.” (look up that college and see what kind of medical program they have – NONE)
Blaylock’s JANA is not the same as JAMA. JAMA is an internationally respected medical journal.

Blaylock’s web site has links to buy his brain booster pills and his right wing extremist political views.

That is why I started looking deeper into who this guy really is. I’m still not sure, but it’s beginning to look suspicious.

  70. read their causes of blindness list more carefully Says:

Blindness? Seems like most here are a little blind.. or bitter :[

I totally clicked and closed blaylocks page when I got through the health blitherblather far enough to see that he wanted to charge me MONEY to sign up for his subscription services…. I was very hesitant to sign up for free (in the first place), and when I saw that he charged for it, I fled.

I landed here on bullseye because I was looking for a sample issue of blaylocks wellness report. I am curious as to what they contain, but I really am not in the position to pay his price. So, maybe, I guess I was trying to cheat and get an issue for free.

That’s funny how you ended your commentary,

read their causes of blindness list more carefully,

I get that so hard, it’s like they’re a bunch of jack offs or something. Right? lol -,-

  71. fashion shoes Says:

Good blog, after a great informative article, thanks for sharing. Thanks for this info!

  72. J. Harrison Says:

I am politically conservative (not sure why this should matter, but this BLOG would lead you to believe it does) and a long time reader of the Blaylock report. While some of his stuff can be alarmist and a bit “over the top”, I generally find his newsletter incredibly informative and more useful than most of a similar ilk.

If you buy into the Western medical establishment’s view that wellness equates to 1) recognizing symptoms, 2) diagnosing a condition, and then 3) prescribing a pharmaceutical that will “cure” the symptoms of that condition, then the Blaylock report is not for you.

If, on the other hand, you are looking for help understanding the root cause of many common ailments, and things you can do/take/avoid to address these root causes, then its a great read.

  77. WANDA KINZELER Says:

You will stand before God on the day you die and have to account for all of the blood that you shed taking innocent lives because they died at the hands of Western medicine. I know I had the top doctors at Cedars Sinai in Beverly Hills and UCLA Medical when I was 25-28, and by 28 I was given 3 wks to live by their drugs. I quit all of them and went to alternative medicine and natural therapies and have lived another 30 yrs, while I have watched 1000′s die. I highly suggest that you get educated, you are not, get rid of your arrogance, humble yourself, and get right with God. Otherwise that arrogant rooster which represents you will be heckling you forever in a Godless eternity, where you will be forever seeing a movie of the innocent people whom you killed. Google hell as well and watch where you are going if you do not take this ignorant ranting off the internet and make every attempt to repair the damage you have done.

  81. GPC Says:

Here we are in 2012.. and yes one could get info offered by Dr. Blaylock.. But why do that when there is now so much out there.. ie Big Pharma Pills vs Mother Nature.. Keeping in mind there is NO wonder compound.. Just taking a walk can do one good and/or keeping your curiosity going by using your brain and looking it up for yourself.

  82. Elliott Doland Says:

  84. Old Geezer Says:

One thing I keep seeing is how medicine is now profit driven, and i got to wondering, when did that change? I use to read stories of how doctors back in the 1800 took care of people (not for profit, but for the reason to serve those who were sick). So, when did things change? At what point did the medical profession decide “we need to make money off these sick people”. What happened to the Hippocratic Oath of ethics, honesty, and not gouging patients (that last one is mine since it relates back to honesty and being ethical).

I’ve only had about 3 doctors in my life who were not interested in living in a huge house, driving fancy cars, etc, but rather to serve by providing services at a decent (fair) price and even for those who could not pay, take something of value like a chicken, or a day’s labor doing something for the doctor. So, just curious, when did this change take place that doctors are out for profit??

  85. Laira Fonner Says:

I fell for the report. Clicked on some video, was very intrigued because my mom has Parkinson’s just diagnosed and Blaylock talks about prevention for Parkinson’s that his parent both had, etc.

DON’T DO IT! He does have some very good information, but there is a lot of nonsense, too. Basically, he is a radical. Sorry. Smart man with a lot of good stuff but there has to be sound science behind claims, I’m sorry, that’s the way it is. Also, I got immediately inundated with junk emails from Newsmax, including an ad for a new topical cream that works like Botox. I was so offended and mad. My advice: definitely research before you jump in like I did and subscribe to a health newsletter. you should know exactly what you are getting into!!

    BWAAAAAAA HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAAHHAHAHAH

I can only open Mr. Nelson was actually trying to be funny but unfortunately, the ditto head crowd typically believes any spew job of info if it somehow fits into their whacked and skewed view of the world.
