Michael Steele talks about the traitor in the GOP midst, Arlen Specter.

I love it the way Republicans sanction their two or three black folk to talk all negro every so often — them house-niggers sure can come up with some wisdom. It just shows that Rush Limbaugh’s rich ebonic chuckles are no substitute for the real thing. When you’ve got a Michael Steele, why not let him off the plantation now and again?

But since he brought it up, I’m trying to picture mama Specter upraisin’ her son. Her name was Lillie, and she was a Russian emigre. She birthed him in 1930, which means she brought him up during the depression. But here’s where you get all bollixed up, Mr. Steele. Arlen Specter started out as a Democrat. So his mama did raise him this way.

Michael Steele’s adoptive mother didn’t raise him up to be a Republican, but he became one in high school. In spite of his Democratic upbringing, something drew him to the fencing team, the glee club, the seminary, and ultimately law school. A laudatory resume, but not one you would associate with the son of a sharecropper’s daughter, as Mae Steele was.

Steele was certainly raised better than Rush Limbaugh, Glenn Beck, John Cornyn, and the other bloated clods he toadies up to. So why does he do their bidding?

Putting it off on upbringing is, as another Republican sad-sack hack, Alberto Gonzalez, would say, quaint. Some people are upraised just fine, then they look around later and realize they’ve fallen in with a bunch of assholes. Specter got tired of taking their shit, but what do the assholes care? They’ve got guys like Steele to put the squeeze on.
